New Years Eve Party!!

We are off for a New Years Eve party I thought I'd better put in a little bit of effort (and I won't lie......a bit of steel boning hides the Christmas tum beautifully!!). Hope you all have a fantastic 2009!!

More Shoe Love!

Mr K has been busy earning brownie point buying me more sale shoes - the ones I have on today were just under £3.50!! He also got me another pair for just under £7 to wear tonight for the gatering we are going to. I think he's trying to make up for disappearing off on a business trip next week and leaving me all on my lonesome.

Sunday

A couple more Christmas presents in today's outfit. Had Alan's family over for dinner this evening which was nice. I have been enjoying playing with one of my new toys too - a tripod!!! So hopefully when the children are back at school there will be some more interesting shots. Tomorrow we are off to see my grandparents which should be nice. We only really see them once a year so it's a bit of a tradition to head down to Bristol one day over Christmas.

Boxing Day

First a glimpse of Christmas Day in the Kirkham house. We rocked Guitar Hero which Alan got. I had a bit of a relapse and spent the morning in bed after present opening while Alan cooked the turkey. We chilled out at home playing with all the new toys all day.

Today I have put on lots of my Christmas presents. We went to my parents for lunch where the boys were totally spoilt with a Scalextric set. I did put leggings on after we got home. This dress is definitely a layering piece!! I was wearing shorts under it but my poor Dad got to see rather more of his daughter than he wanted due to the ridiculously high split. lol Me and Pippa headed to town to check out the sales afterwards and I picked up some trousers which just totally rock and I will be wearing tomorrow. The new boots passed the test though, after 2 hours of walking round town my feet were still comfy and pain free.

Back and Sparkly

Well, I'm not back to full health but it's Christmas Eve and I wanted to wish you all a very happy Christmas!!

The boys are insanely excited about Christmas but poor Pips is really still not well. We had a quick trip to the GP yesterday with her and are hoping she'll be feeling more up for things tomorrow. Fortunately we like a quiet family Christmas so it's just the five of us tomorrow and Boxing Day. Anyway we are making the best of it and getting out the sparkles!

Taking a short break

I have been hit by a horrible chest cold and being an asthmatic it will no doubt develop into a chest infection, so no pictures until I can breathe without pain.

Last Day of School

Here are me and some of the girls out last night for our Christmas meal. As you can see I didn't get changed for it.

Today is the last day of term and I have the boys nativity play at church this morning. They break up at lunch time and I have them all at home for a couple of weeks. I think we all need it!!

Final Thursday Coffee of the Year

Well it's the last Thursday Coffee morning for 2009. It's going to be another 4 weeks before we get to sit in peace, drinking tea and coffee, eating biscuits and putting the world to rights. I am going out for dinner tonight with some of the girls which I am really looking forward to. It's our work Christmas party!!! And on that note, what is this fashion for not inviting partners to the Christmas parties - I disapprove!!!

I am rather proud of my Christmas Cake decorating this year. It is a portrayal of Lisa and Brendan winning the Strictly final, through the medium of ballroom dancing icing snowmen!!

Tuesday Song Challenge

Taking part in Jane's latest challenge on Work that Wardrobe...

OK this has to be the worst song inspired outfit ever (and picture but it's too dark to take outdoor pictures and my photographer was slightly distracted by Lazy Town....the perils of a 6 year old photographer!!!!) but I just couldn't think of anything else that would work in this temperature. Guess the song!

I've been a bad blogger and didn't take any pictures over the weekend. I did have one taken of me at the party on Saturday night so I could put it on here but I may have to exercise the right to not post it if I look as drunk as I was!!!

Capsule Wardrobe Challenge - Day 3

I have added my black fleece to my list because I had not prepared for the sub zero temperatures we have this week. I had this tights combination suggested to me a while back but my purple tights have been languishing in the bottom of the laundry basket and I have only now got my backside into gear and actually attacked Mount Washmore. I'm really pleased with the effect. I probably shouldn't admit this but I also have calf length fluffy slipper socks on!

Sunday

Busy day here - house cleaned top to bottom and then I whipped up a buffet for some friends we had coming over. This is me at the end of the day - I am exhausted but had a great day. Just planning my items for the capsule wardrobe challenge that starts tomorrow.

I was thinking today as I was trying to decide what to include in my capsule wardrobe that I used to be a girl who never, ever wore anything except jeans. I remember people being really surprised on the very rare occasions they saw me in skirts. I have totally changed and absolutely love skirts and dresses now. I love feeling more feminine and find that they are so much more versatile and can be dressed up or down so much more easily.

On another fashion note, I was trying my outfit on for Saturday's party to try to decide whether to have hair up or down and I got completely stuck in it. The zip broke and I had to cut myself out of it. I am totally gutted because I loved the dress. I am going to try to fix it if I can but I don't have time to do it before Saturday. I have no idea when I am going to wear and no money really to buy anything else. So incredibly frustrating. I think I will have to make an emergency dash to the shops some time this week to get something.

INSET Day

I have all three little ones at home today due to a school INSET day. I have already had to kick them out into the garden to run off steam! Hopefully if I keep them really busy and energetic this morning they will settle down to watch the next few episodes of the Dogtanian DVD this afternoon.

Fashion and Babywearing

Ok, I am an big fan of babywearing and have worn Pips since she was a baby. I didn't know enough about it to do it with the boys unfortunately but am glad I have had a chance to see how fantastic it can be. My biggest problem is that I have two slings: this one and an orange pouch sling, but nothing goes with them! I am not a multi-coloured stripey kind of person. Now, the question is, should the sling be a fashion accessory for the mum or is it a fashion accessory for the child?

Proud Mama Day

My fabulous and gorgeous middle baby had his first school assembly today and he was brilliant in it. I am super proud Mummy today. I am absolutely freezing today and wondering if perhaps I should put the skirts away for the rest of Winter.

Now all I need is an office

This is another of my bargain skirts today. It fits absolutely perfectly which is so rare for me and skirts. I added the jacket for warmth when doing the station run this morning, but think I prefer it without. I also prefer it without the long sleeved top but on a day like today there is no way I am venturing outside with no arm coverage. I am still looking for a replacement for these boots so until I find the prefect pair at the perfect price I'll be getting wet feet! I was thinking about it last night and realised that I do wear black and white alot. I know it suits me, but I think maybe adding some different coloured belts and accessories could give me a more interesting look.
And finally, I have had a breakthrough.........Alan actually said he thought it was great that I put so much effort in instead of throwing on jeans and a T-shirt everyday! I wasn't sure he'd even noticed.

Sunday Shopping

I picked up this skirt in the Primark sale. Now I just can't resist a Primark sale - their stuff is cheap full price but at sale prices they are virtually paying you to take them away!! This was £5 I got another two skirts for £3 each. I also got some new Pyjamas, but I don't think you need to see those.
We actually went shopping for suits for Al, but I managed to convince him to buy things for me. He did get one nice suit though and men in suits make me go weak at the knees so it was a rather good day!

Defined by Footwear

I have realised the problem. Heels define me. I feel uncomfortable, unattractive and just not me in my flat boots. They are comfy, they are practical, I need them for walking to and from school, but I don't feel like me in them. How totally shallow am I? Here I have the same outfit, the only difference is the boots, yet I feel like a different and happier woman in the boots.

Wednesday

Don't know what's going on with my clothes at the moment. Have been trying to dress less like a slapper and more my age but do not feel like myself at all and yesterday I failed miserably on both counts. Maybe it's because I don't feel like a grown up yet. I think in my head I'm still about 14. Ah well, enough psychobabble for one day.

Early Mornings Begin

I am feeling surprisingly bright this morning. Astounding given that I barely slept because I was so worried about oversleeping and making Al miss his train. Anyway, managed the first early morning station run and it was fine. (It's quite nice he can't just arrive home and catch me doing anything naughty - my secret chocolate stash is MINE!!!!!)

Oh and these are the other £3 boots.
