Hectic but Good

Sometimes I wish life would slow down just a bit but then I realise it's me that operates at high speed. Today I have taught my final antenatal class, viewed the most totally perfect house and refloored my upstairs bathroom. I guess I'm just trying to keep my mind off Monday's job interview.

Getting that Friday Feeling

Caught in the act of tucking my hair behind my ear today. For some reason I seem to think it's about 20 degrees warmer than it actually is.

Fashion for Walls

So here it is my beautiful new feature wall - not bad for a couple of hours work even if I do say so myself.

Tuesday

I have a busy day ahead and just took quick outfit shots before I change into my painting stuff so I can hang some wallpaper. I have layered the tights and took a close up to show the pattern. I really like the look and it is warmer than just wearing one pair.

Wow! What a Day

Not a very exciting outfit. I saw a house which we saw and loved last year but didn't buy had come back onto the market at a much lower price thanks to the ever falling property market. Anyway, in a mad moment I organised to have our house valued this evening so have spent all day cleaning and tidying and seeing every little defect in our house! Not only that but I was invited for interview for a job I really like the sound of. So all in all a pretty fab day and the valuation was about what I had expected so I am a happy camper this evening. Just got to get this job now!

Twins

I was teaching this morning and was up and out of the house before Al got out of bed. This led to a rather worrying case of twins when I got home and realised we were wearing matching outfits. So a quick change for me and off we went!

Picture Perfect

I am just having one of those mornings where I cannot get a good photo. Ah well. It is a great day in the Kirkham household. We have decided to swallow the cost and Alan is now driving himself to the station! Yippee!!!!! I also managed yesterday to get extra long over knee socks which actually are long enough.

A confession

I am starting to realise I have a serious shopping problem. Since stopping buying anymore footwear I have just moved on to clothes and accessories. I know it's ridiculous and that shopping will not buy me happiness but it is one of the few things that actually puts a smile on my face. I can't believe it has come to publicly announcing this but hopefully it will make me stop and concentrate on fixing the things that make me feel down.

Last new item

This skirt is the last of the bits I picked up in the sales. I am now just waiting for all the jumpers to go on sale in a couple of months and I'll be a happy girl. I thoughth the cardi and skirt would make a good combination but couldn't work out what to put under it. I'm not entirely convinced by the floral top, I think I need some more plain coloured tops in different shades. A chocolate brown top would have looked much better under this.

Dressing your age

Worryingly I looked at myself today and thought this was an outfit my Mum would wear without the belt (not often, I can't actually remember the last time I saw her wearing something other than jeans) and walked out of the bathroom for Alan to tell me he really liked the outfit again - he'll be happy if it's true that all girls turn into their mothers then!!! I think the problem is that I am probably dressed more age appropriate here, but actually only feel about 17 so tend to dress for the way I feel rather than the way I actually am.

Monday Morning Again

Why do Monday mornings come around so fast?

I got this 'dress' off ebay. Even I would debate dress and I am not afraid of a short hemline! However, it makes a good top. I am supposed to be off for a training walk with a friend this morning but everywhere is so wet due to storms we had last night I don't know if we will actually go. We have a small lake on our driveway!

Boot Shopping

I haven't cracked! I need to get some new boots for Al so am heading off to pick up some I ordered and might just have to pop into Matalan while I'm there to see if they have any sale bargains left. This skirt arrived from ebay yesterday, cost a massive 50p!!!

Teaching Again

I started teaching a new course today. I haven't taught for moths so was totally stressed out about it. However it all went ok in the end. I also got a new haircut yesterday afternoon. It's not all that different but will make it a much nicer shape as I grow it.

Pearls and Twinset

The little lady decided to join me in the pictures today and show me up as the slack mother I am by still beng in her PJs. This look is a bit 'pearls and twinset' but I felt like a bit of a change. Finally I have found an outfit which Alan actually likes. He has long bemoaned the fact that I wear mini skirts and tight stuff (clearly I completely ignore him). I sometimes wonder what he was expecting, you don't pick someone up when they are wearing next to nothing and then expect them to become all demure in their fashion choices, do you?

Anyway, this idea of putting the strapless dress over a top was one of Fi's from ages ago which I have only just gotten around to trying.

A Challenge

I am taking part in the Ribbon Walk in aid of Breast Cancer Care in June. It's a 20 mile walk and I am just starting my training.

If you would like to sponsor me check out my fundraising page here.

Thanks!

Tell me why.........

I don't like Mondays. Especially drizzly ones! I spent time and effort straightening my hair this morning only to walk the kids to school in the drizzle and return to having a frizzy mop! Back to the normal routine today, dragged everyone out of bed early and off to the station. Got loads of errands to run today which should keep me busy and occupied enough to stop me closing my eyes and nodding off. Sometimes I'm like an old lady, I can fall asleep anywhere anytime. Not sure if it's a talent or an afliction!

I have actually managed a completely Primark free outfit today for once.

Sober Sunday

Fortunately not hungover today after last night's fun. We've had a pretty lazy day today, headed over to my mum's to watch the football (bad idea because I now have a pretty depressed husband and eldest son - I keep telling them to support a decent team but they won't listen lol), then over to my mother-in-law's to pick up some bits. Nothing exciting and quite a chilled out day. We are attempting the potty training again but I have a feeling Little Miss will still be in nappies when she's 15!

Whoops.......no footwear

There's no point in trying to hide it, I am quite a bit drunk and took my boots off before taking the photo. I didn't even notice until I looked at the pics. Ah well, I was wearing my patchwork boots before. I'm just back from my best friends birthday celebrations of playing wii and drinking. We have been friend since we were 14 and plan on only ever celebrating 28th birthdays from now on!! For some reason turning 30 next year is a bit scary (we have decided we are going to go and get our tattoos done though to celebrate which makes it slightly more ok to be entering the next decade). Fortunately they were at her parents which is about 10 doors down from my house, so I sauntered on down and left Alan (who got home at 6am) to fend for himself and the kiddies. Although I felt a bit bad abandoning him when he's only jsut back I was able to partake in the alcohol for once which was well apreciated

I managed to pick up this cardigan for £4 in the Tesco sale yesterday, really could do with one in black too but they didn't have my size. I only own one other cardigan which my Grandmama knitted for me many years ago and which I love because my totally fabulous and much missed Grandmama made it, but I would not be seen out in public in. So I am in great need for cardis.

Friday Fun

Sorry about the terrible picture. I look totally knackered in it because, well, I am totally knackered! It's been a long week but I have achieved great things with the house. Sadly, it's 11pm and I still have tonnes to do and loads of stuff to put up in the loft. I am tempted to leave it for Alan as a welcome home gift. I hate the loft - spiders!

Shoe Storage

Shoe storage has been an issue in our house for quite some time. I have heard mutterings about divorce and 'it's the shoes or me' so I have had to do something about it. I have seen lots of people using shoe boxes but didn't think the cheap ones looked very sturdy and was not going to pay the vast sums required for more solid boxes. So, I had a look in my cupboards and realised that the Tesco Value/ASDA Smartprice food storers (4.5 litre) were just the right size and transparent so I could see what was inside.
Unfortunately I could only buy 7 to add to the one I already had so I will be heading back there another day to buy rather a lot more. At £1.57 or something they really are a bargain.

First Coffee Morning of the Year

Life is back to normal finally - Thursday comes around and the girls meet for coffee. We are all on a bit of a health kick this year so gone are the biscuits and cakes and we were munching happily on cherries and grapes. Yummy! I am allergic to alot of fruits so it was quite an achievement for me to actually eat any but no reactions thankfully. We are also thinking about doing the ribbon walk in aid of breast cancer care. More on that if we go ahead with it.

Stilettos = crampons

There's still ice everywhere and these boots need reheeling so they worked wonders on keeping me upright!

Another busy day here sorting and cleaning. I have cleared out my wardrobe and am amazed that I actually have alot more clothes than I realised. I think if I keep shopping I am going to need to move house just to fit in the extra wardrobe space needed.

Back to school

Well, the boys went back to school today. It was their first day at their new school and I am nervously awaiting the end of the day so I can check how it has all gone.

The knee is recovered now so I feel much better back in heels. It's nice to get back to normal routine again. I have enjoyed having the kids all at home for the holidays though, they have actually been amazingly good considering how worried they were about the school change.

I think 90% of my wardrobe comes from Primark - it's amazing how many days the whole outfit is from there. Today the entire outfit cost £27.40 and £20 of that was on the boots!

Blog Award

I have been given this blog award by the lovely Kayleigh at Fashionably Later. Thank you so much!!

"Blogs who receive this award are "exceedingly charming," says it's authors. This award is a fine one because it focuses not on the glory and fanfare of blogging, but in the PROXIMITY to one another through this online-world. "This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY--nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers! Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this clever-written text into into the body of their award."

As I have recently done a list of my favourite blogs I won't pass this award on because there are just so many deserving blogs that I read and love.

Who ate all the (Mince) Pies???

I love my expression in this photo - Jamie was just putting handfuls of snow in Ryan's hood!!

Now, I thought I had done quite well this year but having looked at this photo it is pretty clear that the excessive eating and drinking have taken their toll. These jeans were definitely more flattering a few weeks back! Ah well, what's the point in Christmas if you can't enjoy yourself and over indulge. Fortunately my parents have just moved their gym from their house into their annex and given me a key so I will be getting back in shape as soon as Al is back to babysit.

I tried to wear heels but my knee is still not really up to it so sticking with the flats for a few more days I suspect.

Cleaning Lady

I have been such a busy bunny today. Apart from a couple of hours at my parents for dinner I have been cleaning and tidying all day. It feels much better now that I have given the place a good spring clean but there are still some bits to do tomorrow to finish it off before the kids go back to school and the usual madness commences. And talking about the boys going back, why oh why do they need so much uniform. I have been sewing nametapes on everything ready for them beginnning at their new school and my fingers are so sore!! At least I shouldn't need to do any more until August unless they grow at an alarming rate.

So today's outfit, nothing special and I did wear the orange stripy socks and nothing else on my feet for the vast majority of the day.

Trying out the Tripod

Now I have the tripod I feel I ought to try some new poses and places to take my pictures. Todays outfit was all about comfort, I was taking down all the decorations and putting the tree back in the loft for next year. Then it was cleaning time. I always get an urge to clean and clear once the decs are down. It's nice to be able to do it properly again.

I did however manage to take quite a spectacular tumble down the stairs and have huge bruises on my legs and a swollen knee! Typical, this only happens when I have no support at home. Ah well, it'll be trousers for me until the impressive purples have faded.

What a Busy and Fabulous Day

Today was all about this gorgeous little fella who turned 5. We had a party and cake and played alot of lego!!

As for me I went for a bit of a Kate classic which is very comfy but still looks good. The hair is another matter but I didn't have time to do anything with it so just bunged a hair band in. The Christmas tree and decs will be coming down tomorrow so I thought I'd do a festive pose for today.

First Outfit of the New Year

I have seen and liked the look of a shirtdress layered over other things but not tried it. Both Audi and Kasmira rock the look and this is my interpretation.

Everything except shoes - Primark
Shoes - Matalan

I do not recemmend the super cheap tights from Primark though, they seriously lack lycra content and I have spent all day pulling them up trying to avoid the less than attractive Nora Batty look. Definitely worth paying for the slightly more expensive ones which have never given me any problems.

New Years Resolutions

OK my fashion/blogging resolutions for 2009 are:

1. to not buy any more shoes/boots. (this is going to hurt but I need to save every penny so we can move house)
2. to actually comment on the blogs I read more.
3. to take advantage at the new posing possibilities my tripod will give me.

My Favourite Outfits for 2008

Here are a few of my favourite outfits from 2008 from other bloggers.

Special mention has to go to a few blogs which I look forward to reading everyday and couldn't pic one pic from because they are all so fab:-

There are many more I could mention. I have learnt so much from all of you this year, Thank you!
