I really need a black or purple belt to finish this look off properly, or possibly a funky scarf. It just doesn't seem complete as it is.

Yes,you are right. You need a wide belt for definition around your waist, and to complete the look. Cute dress btw. :)
And maybe change the colour of the tights to purple. The black is a bit severe against the very pale grey of the dress. Then you can go black belt to go with the boots.
I have taken all your comments and suggestions on board and have tried again (post on 21/1/10).
Thanks for the ideas, I am so much happier with the look of this dress now.
