Wednesday 30/9/09

Totally shattered today, fortunately all I need to do is pour a pint of coffee down my throat and do the weekly shop before picking up Pips. I started with the basic brown and black today and added the red to brighten it up a bit.

A/W Shopping time

It's that time of year again when I look at all my winter clothes and see how tired they are looking. Fortunately I love shopping because the stuff I buy is cheap and cheerful and rarely lasts more than a year. I have been looking back at my posts from this time last year. Firstly - I can't believe how much my hair has grown! Secondly, I was wearing alot of tights and skirts/shorts last year whereas I seem to be sticking with the safety of jeans this year. Must get my legs out abit more!

Tuesday 29/9/09

This is the first week Pips has been at nursery 5 days. I have to say I am loving the freedom of having a couple of hours to myself each morning. She absolutely adores her school so I am not worried about her at all which is amazing given previous experiences of trying to leave her with anyone.

Monday 28/9/09

I haven't stopped today! Had a friend round for coffee this morning, picked up Pips from Nursery, went to another friend's for lunch and then picked up boys from school. Went to the park after for an hour and now finally home just in time to start cooking tea! I'm thinking a quick and easy risotto is about all I can manage to throw together. The hair is looking bad today but no chance to sort it out so plaits all day - nevermind.

Sunday 27/9/09

No picture yesterday because I went straight out blackberrying and just chucked on jeans and a jumper that I didn't care about getting loads of purple juice all over! Having a quiet day today. Lots of writing and F1 this afternoon.

Friday 25/9/09

I'm not entirely convinced by this outfit. The tights seem too dark for the rest of it.
Off to soft play this morning to meet some of the school mums with our younger ones. I can't believe we have been in the new house for a month today. It feels so much longer. Amazing how quickly a house feels like home.

Thursday 24/9/09

No close up pics today, I am suffering from a hideous hangover this morning and noone needs to see that! Definitely comfort over style for me today. I did have a very proud Mummy Moment this morning when Ryan was fantastic in his school harvest assembly. Then took part in a parenting project with Jamie and had a fab session of one on one time with him. My kids rock!

Wednesday 23/9/09

It's blustery and a bit rainy today, definitely more Autumnal every day. One quick piece of advice to anyone thinking of cycling in very tight jeans - don't do it!!!! It's like trying to cycle with the worlds tightest tubigrips on your thighs, my poor muscles. Having a good day today though, don't you love it when you have someone in your life who just totally gets you, no pretences, accepts you for who you are, nutter tendancies and all. Thank you! You know who you are.

Tuesday 22/9/09

The little lady is full of cold today and had me up three times in the night with her coughing. We were so exhasted this morning that we decided to take the car, therefore a tight skirt is wearable. Not a very exciting day, just the usual domestic drudgery.

More on Bras

I could go on for quite some time about this issues but I won't bore you for too much longer. Check out Corinna's comment on my post below for more great advice and I have found some great links for even more information on bra fitting:

http://www.shopisabella.com/boobologist/bra-fitting.asp
http://www.wikihow.com/Measure-Your-Bra-Size

I also have to have a little moan about the availability of small band size bras. I need a 28 and I'm not alone in this, however I am not an 11 year old girl and want women's underwear not teenage first bras! I also need something more than an AA cup, so please someone tell me where I can get nice, adult bras at reasonable prices in a 28D. Here endeth my rant.

Monday 21/9/09

Looks like it's going to be a nice day here today. I ended up with a rather later than planned night last night so overslept and went for simple and quick this morning. No accessories and no fuss. The shorts/tights combination is fantastic for riding my bike which is important now I am up to 6 miles a day with Pip going to nursery at a school in the opposite direction to the boys school.

Sunday 20/9/09

I figured today is probably the last day for wearing white Summer shoes so thought I'd make the most of it. I had totally forgotten how painful these shoes are! As the day involved a nice long lie-in, shopping and soon I'll be decorating the spare room I kept it pretty simple.

Bra Sizes Revisited

I genuinely believe that having a correctly fitting bra is of absolute importance to all women. Not only will it provide comfort and support but will make clothes hang much better. See my previous post on this subject to see the difference it made to me.

It is also important to check regularly that your bras still fit. Not only does body shape change over time and also with any gain or loss of weight, but elastic stretches and regular washing affects the bras. So this is today's mission for me, having lost some weight my bras are just not fitting right anymore so it's off to the shops for me. And whilst on this subject I would like to publicly complain about the lack of shops which cater for smaller band sizes. I am very limited in where I can look for bras because of this. However, big praise for M&S who do stock a fantastic range of sizes.

So use the following tips to make sure you get the best fit.

1. measure under your bust this is your band size - you don't need to add anything.
2. measure around the fullest part, the difference between this and your band size is your cup size.
3. keep trying on lots and lots of different styles and sizes until you find one which fits perfectly. Each different brand has it's own shapes and sizes and you will probably find that there is a brand which works just right for you.
4. you should only be able to get 1 or 2 fingers under the band. It will feel tight if you have been wearing a larger band size - this is fine the band is where the support comes from.

Saturday 19/9/09

Trying out Picasa collages today as you can see. I was totally lacking inspriation this morning so just did waht I always do in these situations - all black and lots of eyeliner!! I tied in the brown boots with the brown necklace and figured the colour of my hair helped it to work. It's lovely and warm today so no need for a jacket at all.

Working on the Blog

I'm doing some work on the blog to make it a more interesting place to visit. Apologies in advance if there are times when it isn't looking great! Hope you'll like the new arrangements.

Picture Heavy

Me and P were having a lovely time posing this morning so thought we would share more than the usual one shot. These are similar to the pair of jeans I bought last week but I went back and got the smaller size to give more of a skinny look. I just wish more places did longer than 31" leg length. It's just about ok for skinnies but for anything else it's just not long enough.

Black and Bright

I actually had to put the heating on yesterday it's gotten so cold. Normally I'm more of the extra jumper and leave it off as long as possible type of person but I was absolutely freezing!

This outfit is something I would have worn back in my teenage years. Seems I haven't changed much although the hemlines are definitely much longer than they used to be!

Contrast

I really like the look of the contrast between the dark boots and light jeans. It's getting a bit warm here already though so I may have to change before heading out to the school fair. Do I dare mention the two skirts and dress I also bought yesterday to Mr so I can wear one of them?

and here they are....

Well these are the jeans I got - I haven't worn any this pale in a long time, so good? bad? or indifferent? I am hoping they will provide more of a contrast with my pairs of knee boots than the indigo pairs I usually wear.
Jeans - Matalan

I have just made a discovery.....

There is a Matalan clearance store 5 mins from the new house. I knew moving here was a good idea!! Just picked up a new pair of jeans for £3.50 and definitely going to have to go back for a proper rummage once Pippa is in nursery.

Biking wear

Well it's a beautiful day here. Since moving my school run is now over a mile each way so we have started cycling to school everyday. It's playing havoc with my wardrobe choices and I am not even thinking about the lack of options hair wise. Anyway, I have mastered cycling in heels so that's not a problem, but this is about the only skirt I can wear. It's not just a case of decency, cycling shorts were invented for a reason, but shape as well. Anything remotely tight makes getting on the bike impossible and anything long is just dangerous. So, do I have to give up on skirts all together?

Finding a new spot

I'm still trying to find a good spot in the house where I can take photos. Lots of experimenting to come I think. As for these boots. I can't get enough of them. Might have to invest in another pair of OTKs so I get some variety.
