Dull but practical today. Was teaching baby massage this morning and sorting the house out to teach antenatal classes tomorrow so lots of carrying equipment about. I love this black jumper, it's a really feminine shape but very practical too. By Fridays I seem to have got to the can't be bothered jeans and a jumper stage. Put some flower hair clips in to make it a bit more girly.

Definitely a good outfit for playing with the kids though:

"It's too long, Mummy!"

Well this outfit was not a hit with the kids, my middle one got really cross with being unable to hang on my legs in his usual fashion (can't say it was a negative for me!). He said it was too long and he didn't like it. I love this skirt because it actually is long enough for me. I'm not particularly tall but dop have long legs and find lots of long skirts stop at a really unflattering point of my ankles. So this one is fab. I changed the shoes for my flat boots later on and wore a denim jacket over the top. Would have worn DMs with it if I had any but still haven't got round to replacing the pair that wore through (after 8 years solid wear) 8 years ago. Got my eye on a pair of cherry reds or purple next.

The Scarf

Trying out wearing a scarf today. Was given this really lovely one by my best mate for my birthday so thought I'd try it out. Went for a plain outfit so the scarf would be the focal point. Was given the following link to give me ideas for ways to tie it which I found really helpful: Hermes (click on playtime with your scarf).

Black Day

It's a black day today. I love these black trousers but don't wear them often because they are part of a suit. Have added a splash of colour with the shoes and will use my fab new red handbag I was given for my birthday to liven the outfit up a bit. I really want some red shoes, am quite into the red/black thing at the moment.

Ironing!!!

Well having just looked at the pictures I think it's clear I should actually do some ironing! This skirt is not that long and the non-ironed turnups at the bottom do not add to it's charm. I like the shape of this skirt because I think it makes my bum look ok which is quite an achievement. The kids are all off school still with a sickness bug so trying some new ideas out whilst I get through the washing mountain. I do really love skirts but find it hard to find skirts that fit because I am pear shaped - they either gape at the waist or are stretched over the hips. Neither is a good look. Add to that the ongoing problem of not flashing everybody in the slightest hint of a breeze and it's a difficult job. If I find one I like I tend to keep it forever.....the one I have on today is at least 5 years old! The boots are last years flat winter boots, they were cheap and worn to death so I can only wear them now when I know there will be no rain because otherwise I get very wet feet!!!!

Half Term = Play Time

Well it's half term here so I've got both boys home all day. Not good for dressing nicely, definitely a need for comfort over style! We had a lovely time at the park this morning so a bit of a rushed pic over lunch time. It's going to be lots of very casual jeans and stretch tops this week I expect. We don't have many plans for the week so I expect there'll be lots of park trips and playing trains/cars on the floor.

Primark from Head to Toe

Back to the jeans again today, managed to catch my favourite pair yesterday and they now have a rather attractive hole in them so have had to bin them. So, I'm now on the lookout for a new pair - if anyone can suggest somewhere that cuts jeans for people with a 'rounded' derriƩre I'd be most grateful!
I have my eldest off school today and am still working on furniture removal so another easy to wear and practical outfit.

Thursday, 14 February 2008

Today is another busy one, flat shoes and jeans are a necessity because it's supermarket day. We are also in the process of renovating out house and I have to clear the next room ready to be done so there's going to be lots of fetching and carrying and trips to the loft/tip. Then it'll be into my painting clothes this evening to get on with the redecorating.

Wednesday, 13 February 2008

Well, I've got a busy day today doing the usual school runs and going to all the DIY shops in search of accessories for my bedroom. I'm out tonight at a girlie night in so needed something which would go through all day and evening. I read something interesting yesterday about wearing heels being good for your pelvic floor so I got my boots out of the cupboard to give it a whirl! The red belt adds a splash of colour and goes with the red handbag I am using today.

Obvious Change

I got loads of comments about my outfit yesterday at the school gates. Obviously I have been making so little effort recently that I looked completely rough! I think part of it is that I've started to wear a little bit of makeup. I'm not good at getting up in the mornings so haven't bothered much in the past, but it does make a difference and makes me feel better too so I think I'll try to keep it up.
This is my bargain jumper that I picked up on Sunday for £3. Wasn't sure what to wear it with but quite like it with the cream cords. I always think it's a brave mood wearing cream with children around but I'm prepared to take the risk. I'm unsure about the shoes with this outfit. The trousers aren't very long so it has to be flats but none of mine looked right. So these will have to do for now.

From today on, my style is evolving.... I am determinded to regain some of my old sense of style. I have been a SAHM for nearly 6 years now and over that time have completely lost my own style, ending up in jeans and Tshirts everyday. I have been looking at lots of style blogs but there are few that have clothes really suitable for the day to day life of a SAHM. All of my outfits cost very little and are practical so I can run around after the little ones. I tend to wear flat shoes and trousers most of the time but like to mix in some skirts too. I wear loads of different colours and am happy to experiment. I get ideas from other SAHMs, people I see out and about, style blogs, magazines, you name it really!
