Me and my best friend

Anyone who knows me 'in real life' will confirm that I am rarely seen without a cuppa in hand. I'm about at English as they come when it comes to my tea! I really liked Shoegal's turquoise and red today and as I was still in bed when I read her post (making the most of no school runs!) I had time to incorporate it into my look for today too.

Karaoke

I went to karaoke with Alan last night. We so rarely get a night out together and we both love a bit of karaoke! Had a great time and even managed to get a duet in. I'm hoping to go most Thursdays from now until we move house. I felt great in this outfit too. Built it around the tights I was already wearing.

New Boots Again!

Tese boots are from my sister. They are alot more platformy than I would usually wear. We actually didn't go out during the day yesterday so I put them on just for the photos. I think they might look better under long skirts and jeans or with a more gothy outfit. The tights, however, I totally loved.

Have I been Tango'd?

Managed to get a quick picture when the rain stopped for 2 mins. The rain means back to boots. This is the first time I have ever worn orange as far as I can remember. So what do you think? Good or have I been tango'd???

Half Term Again

The weather is a bit up and down today but I am trying to think positive and stick with the Summer clothes.

And here is a close up of my new, somewhat redder hair - not quite the dramatic change I was hoping for but that's the joy of trying to dye very dark hair.

Quick Catch Up

I have been suffering from terrible hayfever over the last few days and have been struggling to look anything other than a mess with streaming eyes and constant sneezing. These are quick catch up posts the pink one from Thursday night and the red from Saturday. I could barely walk in the heels on Thursday but my ankle seemed much better by Saturday so I braved the wedges. It's half term again here so I have the kids home for a week. Not much planned at the moment but I'm sure we will find things to do to entertain ourselves.

Repeat of a previous winner

I've worn this outfit or something very similar before but it is a winner so I am happy to wear it again. I love the cute casual look with the boots dressing down the ruffled dress.

Saturday

Had a casual day on Saturday but chucked on the new shoes to wear them in a bit. Didn't get any outfit pics on Sunday and managed to twist my ankle so wearing the shoes in was a waste of time!

Statement Necklace

I'm not entirely sure what statement this necklace is trying to make but it's certainly the only interesting thing going on in this outfit! It's a pretty miserable cold wet day here and this all blue ensemble fitted it about right.

Haven't done this for years....

I'm clearly having a bit of a teenage moment and have braided all my hair. Last time I did this my hair was waist length which looked somewhat better.

Trying something new

Firstly - the stuff on Pippa's face is chocolate mousse - I couldn't resist getting a pic of her before I cleaned her up!

I am trying out croppeed tights today. Never worn them before and struggling with footwear. Have tried loads out and nothing looks quite right. I think some ballet flats might look nice but I don't have any. Might have to see what I can pick up next time I'm in town. Off to give blood this afternoon so needed something short sleeved. No doubt tomorrow I'll be sporting a rather fetching plaster!

Fitflops Review

The people at fitness footwear offered me a pair of fitflops to try out and review for you. I chose the Oasis Natural because I wanted something I could wear with lots of different outfits which didn't look too much like a fitness shoe. I really like the look of them and would wear them with any uotfit I would usually wear fashion flip flops or trainers. They claim to increase the workout for your legs and bum when doing normal walking. As I am training for my sponsored 20 mile walk (sponsor me here!) I decided to really put them through their paces and wear them for a whole day, including one of my training walks.

They were comfortable the first time I put them on and I was pleased that the toe post didn't seem to rub or feel uncomfortable which is a problem I have had with flip flops in general. The sizing was about right. We started with the visit to the county show which involved lots of walking across fields. I wason my feet for about 2 hours and they were very comfortable and supportive.

In the evening I went for a 6.8 mile walk around the area. The fitflops were really comfortable and supportive but I did find that one one foot there was a littl bit of rubbing where the toe post met the top of the shoe. I was very impressed and am sure that once they have been worn a bit more the rubbing will stop. Overall I was very pleased with the comfort, supportiveness, style and quality. I am not sure, however, how much difference they have made to the amount of work my legs and bum are doing. I didn't feel anything different but as I am quite fit and used to walking long distances it may be that my muscles are used to working relatively hard anyway so it made less of a change.

Turned a bit cold

It has been far from Summery today. This jacket is another of my recent purchases - all of £5. My little sis likes it though and was planning on buying one too. what's the betting we end up wearing it at the same time!

Summer dress

Today has been lovely weather-wise to look at but actually a bit chilly. I did try to brave it with just the dress but I was freezing so added the cardi and tights. I picked up this dress while I was out yesterday and love it - comfy, long enough to be decent and it has pockets! This would make a great festival dress but unfortunately I can't see us making it to a festival for a few more years.

Family Day

Had a fab day out at the Surrey Heath Show with the kids this morning, then lunch and watched the footie with my parents, the popped into town and picked up some new bits for the Summer before having a BBQ. Lovely relaxing day. I have also worn my fitflops all day to test them out and will be posting a review tomorrow.

Thrifting

I've never thrifted clothes before but saw this top in the window of one of my local charity shops and couldn't resist it. Really pleased and definitely going to see what other little treasures I can pic up. This is what I wore yesterday and it was my beautiful little Pip's birthday. Can't believe she's three already. I definitely feel like I have got back to myself again after the pregnancy and breastfeeding years and am looking forward to watching the kids grow up and develop now.
