I have had this dress a little while and haven't worn it because I just didn't quite know what to do with it. I love the shape, I love the ribbing, just not sure how to wear it best because it is one shouldered. I tried it with this top under this morning but am unconvinced. Have since taken off the top and tried it with nothing under but am a bit cold. Any suggestions gratefully received.

This is outfit number 2 for the day. I managed to spill a cup of coffee down myself this morning all over the first outfit. I am so not with it at the moment. I get weeks like this where I am off with the fairies somewhere and not really functioning in the real world. And to top it off I was wearing my platform boots for the first time in ages and they have split down the front. Think they spent too long in storage. Anyway, back to the clothes. I picked up this dress a few weeks ago in the Matalan clearance centre for a whopping £1. Have been trying to work out how to incorporate it into an outfit. I am not very good with really patterned stuff. I never know quite what to do with it. Wuite pleased with how this turned out.

I am feeling really rough today. Threw on a really comfy easy to wear outfit. I love that by putting on some sexy boots it makes it look like you put in a whole lot more effort to the outfit than the three seconds it actually took to get ready!

Well I had to wear the new boots so built the outfit around them. They have lovely detailing on the back too :-). I have given the brown top another try, this time broken up by both the waistcoat and the necklace. I think it looks far better this way.

Feeling very bright and cheerful in this outfit. I think it would work really well with brown top and tights too. The turquoise really pops against the black. I have been wearing far too much black/white/grey recently, really need an injection of colour. I am also coming around to the idea of leggings instead of tights. I love tights but can't cycle in a skirt and tights without shorts of some description to keep me decent. However, with leggings because they are thick and therefore completely opaque I can wear dresses and skirts over them and cycle with no worries. I am considering trying some different coloured leggings and seeing how it looks. Obviously they are more of an investment than a pair of tights, but they also won't get laddered on the pedals!

It's cold, wet and miserable here. So I thought I would brighten it up in my raincoat which scares passers by with it's brightness! I seriously need a new rain coat with a hood for the school run. This one is useless, the buttons keep falling off and the hood broke off too. Primark quality! I've also noticed that both my boys coats have been wrecked on the playground so it's time for new ones for them too.

Ever have a day when you get it completely wrong? Well today is definitely one of those for me. There's pretty much nothing I like about this outfit. The top is totally unflattering and makes me look like I have scary man arms (one of the side effects of carrying very heavy children about is very muscular arms!), it also needs a necklace or scarf or something to break up the block of colour. I have finally fallen out of love with this skirt. It is too big around the waist now and looks terrible all bunched up. The socks and boots make my legs look like tree trunks by cutting them in half at less than flattering points. I have yet to wear these boots and be really happy with the outcome. I think it may be time to say goodbye to them. I do still like these tights though. Ah well - hope I do better next time, this outfit will never ever be repeated!

After a truly horrible day yesterday I have been trying to relax a little today. Went to B&Q and bought a few bushes for the garden. Hopefully in a couple of years we will be having a good crop of redcurrants and blackcurrants. Also seeded what will be the lawn and dug one of the flower beds. I think I could actually start a pottery using the soil in the garden it's just pure clay! I might actually have a garden one day rather than the patch of mud we have had so far.

I think this outfit looked better in my head than in the pictures. Ah well. Pips wanted to show off her new wellies today too. We carefully bought them for her welly walk at school and I had got the wrong week. Whoops! Went boot shopping this morning with a friend and had a lovely time. I tend to shop alone so it was really good to have someone to go with.

Have had a lovely morning doing a course at school with Jay. It's so rare we get one on one time together and both he and I are really loving it. I got lots of compliments on the shoes - they always seem to get a really positive response from other people. Can someone please tell me that big hair is back......mine seems to be growing bigger at a scary rate. Very tempted to get it all chopped off again.
